How to travel to North Cape.

There are many ways that lead to North Cape - Europe’s northernmost point. Under mentioned you have a list of travel possibilities you can choose of:

Car, motorbike, camper or bicycle

The quality of the road to the North Cape is very good. Therefore many like to take the car, motorbike or camper as a way of transportation to travel to North Cape. But more people like to come on bicycles. It’s the E69 that leads you all the way up to the North Cape cliff. In June 1999, the sub-sea tunnel between the mainland and Magerøya Island was opened. There are no extra charges if you want to take a caravan through the tunnel.

Aeroplane

The nearest airport is Valan Lufthavn Honningsvåg. This is a small plane airport about 30 km. south of North Cape. Here the company Wideroe flies with direct routes from Tromsø and Kirkenes.

The nearest larger airports in Finnmark are Alta Lufthavn and Banak Lufthavn Lakselv. These are operated by the companies SAS Braatens and Norwegian.

The nearest international airport is Ivalo Lufthavn in Finland. From here it’s 421 km to North Cape, about a 6 hour drive. 


Buss

The bus company that takes you to North Cape is Veolia. There are daily departures with the bus to North Cape the whole year around. 
When you arrive with the aeroplane in Rovaniemi in Finland the bus company Eskelisen Lapin Linjat will take you directly to North Cape in the summer season.

Hurtigruten

The world’s most beautiful sea voyage along the Norwegian coast. Hurtigruten goes in route between Bergen in the south to Kirkenes in the east. Honningsvåg and North Cape are both very popular places to stop both on the trip south- and east over. It is also possible to take the motorbike and the car with you on Hurtigruten. Both the ships going south- and northbound stop in Honningsvåg harbour every day.
