Nordvågen

Nordvågen is an active and growing fishing community with about 500 inhabitants which lies 6 km to the east of Honningsvåg. This community is fully occupied with the fishing industry. The factory makes a range of high quality fish products. Fresh fish is brought in daily by the local fishing fleet all year round.

Nordvågen is the only fishing village that does not cater for tourism, you are however most welcome to visit the community. They have their own school and shop. In the wintertime this becomes the winter sport place with a challenging slalom, a ski lift with bright lights and ready made ski tracks.

On the Northeast side of Nordvågen lays the old community centre Kjelvik. You can make an interesting hike along the marked mountain trail. (The old road). The trip takes about 2 hours both ways. Today Kjelvik is a popular area for cabin owners.
