Sea fishing

We open the sea fishing season 1st of June. The fishing grounds near Gjesvær are very prolific. The fishing village is based on this rich resource.

The most common fish are Cod, Coalfish, Atlantic Halibut, Catfish, Cusk and also shellfish. It is not unusual to catch a fish weighing over 10 kg.
A standard trip takes about 3 hours.
If you wish we can offer to pack and freeze the fish you have caught. Prices will be negotiated with each individually.

Safaris

Bird watching is done on a cruise between Gjesvær’s small islands and out to the different bird colonies on the bird rock Stappan. The trip takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. On these trips we sometimes see seals.
To ensure your comfort and safety we are limited to 6 persons on the boat. The boat is made of plastic and is 7.85 meters long.

Sale of fish

The fish which is caught in Gjesvær is of the best quality. Stappan Sjøprodukter has a licence to fish and to produce exclusive fish products.
It is possible buy the fish products directly from us.
Stappan Sjøprodukter specialises in producing and developing tasty products based on dry fish. The drying process is the same as the process used for hundreds of years in this area. The products do not contain preservatives. This guarantees a clean and healthy product.
The locals are convinced that this natural product contributes to physical and sexual well- being and virility!

Restaurant Terassen

You can dine on two levels at Terassen. The café is partly over the sea and has a direct view to the bird rock Gjesværstappan. Total surface area is ca. 200 m². The other part below is partly covered and is suitable for eating when it’s raining. There is also terrace heating so it will be warm and comfortable.
We serve a marvellous fish soup made to our own recipe. It includes Atlantic Halibut, Salmon and Cod amongst other ingredients.
